My portrait is of Samantha Newman, a talented sculptor, and a senior in the Rhode Island School of Design. Samantha modeled for us in a Carving Studio portrait workshop. I enjoyed capturing her in a reflective mood. Samantha is cast in a duo-matrix (plaster and resin). Samantha's base is a custom cherry wood block; I designed it with my carpenter.
